GoogleGroups subscribe-by-email now functional

GoogleGroups subscribe-by-email is now functional, tested last night. I haven't tested any other email commands, such as -unsubscribe, -digest, -nomail, etc.

Ironically, this doesn't work yet for GMail accounts due to the upper/lower case issue documented by Texas Critter. A GMail account will receive the confirmation but replying to it from your GMail account will not work yet, and there is no clickable confirmation link in the confirmation email. But this is a big step towards making GoogleGroups usable.

Bug in Browse Members Feature

I have noticed a bug in the management browse members pages.

The default view is sorted by email address I think:

http://groups-beta.google.com/group/GMusers/manage_members

and when you page to the next page (next 30 members) the URL is thus:

http://groups-beta.google.com/group/GMusers/manage_members?view=all&start=30

If you sort the memberlist by join date, the URL looks like this:

http://groups-beta.google.com/group/GMusers/manage_members?view=all&sort=joined

But if you page to the next thirty members by join date, the sort
reverts to sorted by email address. :(

The URL should look like these when paging through "sorted by join
date."

http://groups-beta.google.com/group/GMusers/manage_members?view=all&sort=joined&start=30

and

http://groups-beta.google.com/group/GMusers/manage_members?view=all&sort=joined&start=60
and et cet.

Google to fight Microsoft with own browser?

While Microsoft may fancy capturing some of Google's search action for itself, Google could well be taking an opposite tack and trying to steal a march on Redmond's dominance of the browser world.

Having poached some of the brains behind Microsoft's Internet Explorer, according to the New York Post, speculation is mounting that following the launch of its own brand email, Gmail, the next logical step for the search giant to bring out its own browser.

New Option: Multiple Owners

New Option: Multiple Owners

There is now an option at GGroups to add an additional owner. Browse members and then edit the membership of the member you wish to promote.

"Yes, there are limits on the number of groups you can create in a certain time period.

There may be limits on how fast a single user can post to the system for detection of automated mail senders.

There aren't currently limits on the archive size or the number of messages a group can receive.

But, the point of Groups2...."
