GoogleGroups subscribe-by-email now functional

GoogleGroups subscribe-by-email is now functional, tested last night. I haven't tested any other email commands, such as -unsubscribe, -digest, -nomail, etc.

Ironically, this doesn't work yet for GMail accounts due to the upper/lower case issue documented by Texas Critter. A GMail account will receive the confirmation but replying to it from your GMail account will not work yet, and there is no clickable confirmation link in the confirmation email. But this is a big step towards making GoogleGroups usable.
